TWD - Palets de Dames, Lille Style

I've decided to start baking with the Tuesday's with Dorie group again.  They're baking from Dorie's new book Baking Chez Moi, Recipes from My Paris Home to Your Home Anywhere, which I had already purchased, so I thought, "What the hell.  Why not."  I know the recipes will be fabulous, Hubs sweet tooth will be satisfied, and it will force me to post more regularly.  This, apparently, will make my niece, Annie, happy......we were texting the other day and I mentioned I was bored and she shot back "Go write some blog things.  I like reading them more than once a freakin month."  Pushy.

So the group all bakes the same recipe and posts the results on the second and fourth Tuesday's of every month.  They're also working their way through another Dorie book, Baking with Jula.  They post those results on the first and third Tuesdays, and I may join in on a couple of those, also, so make sure you check in here on Tuesdays!  ANNIE.

The first recipe chosen from Baking Chez Moi, are these cute little Palets de Dames.  Palet translates to "puck" but to call something food related a "puck" in English usually has a negative connotation......like hockey puck!  These are no hockey pucks!  They're a simple, light and fluffy, butter cookie and they're delicious.  Dipping them in icing with just a hint of lemon makes them the perfect afternoon tea snack.  Or in my case, afternoon Champagne snack.  Whoop!

One of the rules of the group is that they prefer we don't post the actual recipe to encourage people to buy Dorie's book.  And you should.  But if you can't, they're usually posted somewhere on the internet if you're willing to do a little searching.  Like this one.  If you scroll down a bit on this page, there is a link to download this recipe (and 2 others)!  You're welcome.

Oh.  And how about those Buckeyes Saturday night?  To quote Michael Rosenberg of Sports Illustrated....."Here comes Urban.  Here come the Buckeyes.  And they're here to stay."  Oh, I hope so!

  4. No hockey pucks to be found this week!
Glad to see you joining in on the TWD fun! (The nice thing about Baking with Julia is that not all of the items are sweet - just in case you ever need a sugar break :-) )

  5. So glad to join in the new book adventures with you. Your cookies turned out lovely. I peeked at a few old posts because you had me LOL about your "stuff" being in storage. I am two weeks into a new (old) house after having my stuff in storage for months. Yes, magazines, cookbooks, purses, kitchen tools.....I felt like I was reading my own words when I saw your pumpkin tiramisu post. Except I didn't make any tiramisu :) Let the games begin ~

  15. Baking again is a good thing...I sort of had the same conversation over here about it all as well. The big draw is baking with old friends again. :-) Your cookies look great...now, being the IU fan that I am, and OSU being the team they are (rivals), I will just say that we can agree to disagree on the whole IU/OSU thing. :-) xo
