TWD - Chocolate Armagnac Cake

Let's just start off by saying that this cake is delicious....really delicious.

Charlotte came home from work yesterday and immediately went to the kitchen and cut herself a piece.   After the first bite her eyes rolled back in her head (this happens periodically) and she said...and I quote  "Dude...good."  Then she took another bite and wrinkled her forehead and said.....and I quote "What's in here?"

Me, "Fruit"

Her, "What kind of fruit"

"Um...I'll tell you when your finished."

"Prunes?"

"Maybe"

"hmmm...it's still pretty good"

Poor prunes....such a stinky reputation.

Before I made this I was reading the experiences the other TWD bakers were having and some said not to worry, that the prunes disappeared into the cake.  I must not have chopped mine small enough, because I could definitely tell they were there.  Not in a bad way.  But definitely there.....in an extra sweet, moist bite kind of way.

Everything went really well until I went to move the cake from the cooling rack to my cake stand (just so I could take a pretty picture....the pressure is really high to get a pretty picture) and it broke in two and I dropped it.  Look really close at the top picture and  you can totally tell!

It didn't alter the taste one bit!

So I need to give the rest of the cake away so I don't eat it all but I think I'll keep the prune part a secret!

Thanks to Lyb at "and then I do the dishes" for picking this weeks recipe.  Check out her site for the recipe.

  2. I'm glad the cake was a hit. I feel sorry for prunes and their bad reputation. I think it is undeserved.
